[Also in Divisions B1-B2 and C3] A Mannich base comprises the reaction product of dimethylamine, formaldehyde and a phenol which contains in the molecule at least one alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical which has at least 6 carbon atoms. In specific examples the phenol used is p-isodecylphenol, p-isononylphenol, p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) - phenol, p - cyclohexylphenol, 4- hydroxy - diphenylmethane, 2 - phenyl - 2 - (4- hydroxyphenyl)-propane, o-cyclohexylphenol, phenylethylphenol or phenylethyl-isononylphenol. The bases may be used as catalysts in the preparation of synthetic resins containing isocyanurate groups (see Division C3).
