When filtering material to be filtered by a filter press, the filter plate package of which is fed with material to be filtered via a flow channel, which material to be filtered is transported via a feed pump to the inlet side of the flow channel, in order to effectively avoid blockages of the flow channel, even in the case of easily filterable, i.e. very highly thickened, material to be filtered, it is proposed that part of the material to be filtered is taken off from the outlet side of the flow channel under induced suction and is forced into the inlet side to form a forced circulation.
