A new N-substituted tetrahydroisophthalimde derivative represented by the formula: (1) Wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen or halogen, R3 is hydrogen or lower alkyl and R4 is alkyl which may be substituted by halogen or lower alkoxy, and preparation methods thereof and herbicidal composition comprising one or more of said derivatives as active ingredients, is disclosed.
