PURPOSE:To discriminate a material surface automatically and correctly without contacting by irradiating the material surface with light from a swiveling light source and detecting its reflected light by a photodetector on the axis of rotation. CONSTITUTION:An annular part 14 rotatable around an axis X of rotation is supported around a photodetection cylinder 12, fixed to a supporter 10, through a bearing 15. A swiveling arm 13 extends from part of the annular aprt and a projector 3 is provided to the top of it. When a pinion 17 is driven by a motor 16, the annular part rotates through a gear 18 and the swiveling arm also rotates. Light from the projector illuminates the surface of a material 1 and its reflected light is detected by a photodetector 4. When the surface is not plated, diffused reflected light X is detected and when plated, the reflected light is reflected at an angle of reflection equal to its angle theta of incidence and is not detected. The projector is swiveled at 360 deg. to prevent an error to the way of setting the material. |
