PURPOSE:To simultaneously measure a far field image parallel to an active layer and a far field image perpendicular to it during the measurement of far field images of laser light from a laser diode, by dividing light into two through a semitransparent mirror. CONSTITUTION:When a laser diode chip is driven by a driving circuit 8, light 6 is radiated from a light emission point C. In general, there are different far field images 5 and 4 parallel and perpendicular to an active layer 2'. For this purpose, the light 6 is split into two through a semitransparent mirror 9. When the active layer is set parallel to paper surface, a photodetector 10 is moved, centering on the light emission point C, on the paper surface to the light A. On the other hand, a photodetector 11 is moved, centering on the contrast point C' of the light emisson point, at right angle to the paper surface. From outputs of both photodetectors, the far field images in two directions (4 and 5) are obtained simultaneously. |
