1526547 Plate type surface condensers TOKYO SHIBAURA DENKI KK and H UEHARA 8 Oct 1976 [15 Oct 1975] 41929/76 Heading F4S In a plate type surface condenser in which adjacent interplate flow passages 21, 22 are traversed respectively by a vapour (e.g. steam) to be condensed and a condensing medium, the plate surface in the condensing passages 21 comprises a primary condensing section 16 and a secondary condensing section 17, the primary condensing section consisting of condensing areas 18a-18d separatad by condensate discharge grooves 19a-19d arranged preferably in a herring bone pattern. The secondary condensing section 17 (i.e. for condensing vapour not condensed in the section 16) may be a corrugated plate are(Figs. 3, 4) or a flat area (Fig. 5) to which rods (33) are secured, either form providing passages 32 for conveying away condensate. 20a and 20b are addditional condensate discharge passages. Alternate plates may be relatively inclined, Fig. 6b whereby the passage crosssectional area of both the passages 21 and 22 decreases in the direction of fluid flow therethrough. |
