HOLLOW LEAF SPRING AND METHOD OF PRODUCING SAME

PURPOSE:To lighten a leaf spring and reduce production cost of same by providing a hollow leaf spring which has longitudinally different local thicknesses and a constant width. CONSTITUTION:In production, a hollow cylindrical blank 1 is first provided which consists of hollow cylindrical portions 2-4 having a certain wall thickness and partially different diameters and truncated cones 5, 6 positioned between these cylindrical portions 2-4. Then, this blank 1 is rolled by a press or the like having a predetermined metal mold to complete a hollow leaf spring 7 having longitudinally partially different thicknesses h and a certain width b. Such hollow leaf spring 7 may be produced by bending a plate-like blank 10 having partially different widths by a press or the like having a predetermined metal mold and connecting both edges 10a, 10b by welding or the like. Thus the hollow leaf springs can be mass-produced.
