The retaining device can be inserted at any desired place in a curtain rail intended for plastic sliders, and removed if required. For this purpose, it has a head (10) which is wider than the slot in the rail. Adjoining the head is a neck (21) of square cross-section which merges into a foot (20). The latter is narrower, but longer than the slot width of the rail. Mounted in the head is a slot (12) for a screwdriver. With the aid of the screwdriver, the foot of the device can be introduced into the slot of the rail. A quarter turn causes the neck to be clamped in the slot. <IMAGE>
