A driving device for an electrochromic display (14, 5) comprises, in order to supply a display demanded by electronic circuits (1-4), means (7-13) for generating colour-marking pulses and erasure pulses. A circuit (6) for changing pulse durations distinguishes the two drive types, and conditions the generating means in order to give, suitably, different pulse durations to the pulses causing colour marking (28) and to the pulses causing erasure (27). <IMAGE>
