PURPOSE:To obtain a novel phenolic cyan dye image forming coupler good in spectral absorption characteristics of the formed dye, high in resistance to light, heat, humidity, etc., good in color developability, sufficient in color developing sensitivity and density, small in loss of the dye even in an exhausted bleaching bath, and retaining high in color developability even when benzyl alcohol is not added to a color developing soln. CONSTITUTION:The purposes are attained by a phenolic cyan dye forming coupler having the general formula, a heterocyclic ureido group at the 2-position, and an acylamino group at the 5-position. In the formula, R1 is optionally substd. heterocyclic residue; R2 is a ballasting group; and Z is H or a group releasable upon coupling reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent. |
