METHOD OF MAKING THE LOOSE PRODUCT ON THE BASE POWDER CELLULOSE

Prodn. of cellulose-based powder compsns. is carried out by (a) forming an aq. dispersion of cellulose powder with a solids content of 6-14% (pref. 8-11%); (b) adding the required amt. of pharmaceutical, chemical or foodstuffs; and (c) milling the dispersion of a particle size of 0.1-15 mu and drying the product. The amt. of active ingredients added in step (b) is pref. 0.001-1 pt. wt. per pt. wt. of cellulose. Exemplified ingredients are K adipate, phenylbutazone and liquorice extract. The milled dispersion is pref. spray-dried. The products are free-running powders which can be directly tabletted to produce tablets with a uniform distribution of active ingredient.
