<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a permanently folded part on a magnetic tape at a failure in threading, by providing air blowout holes on a magnetic tape guide suface opposing to a vacuum column and putting the tape in the vacuum column through the blowout of air to the tape. CONSTITUTION:The supply of air to an air blowout hole 9 is stopped at first and a file 1 is rotated to lead off a magnetic tape for threading. The tip of tape reaches a machine reel while being introduced with a negative pressure formed with an air flow from an air blowout hole 8. During this operation, when the tip of magnetic tape arrives at the vicinity of a contact point between an outlet side air bearing 6 and a tape guide surface 7, air is blown out of the hole 9. If the threading is failed and the tip of tape does not reaches the machine reel, excessive tape led off from the reel 1 suspends in a vacuum column 4 with the air flow blown out of the hole 9, thereby avoiding the formation of an S- loop of tape in a winding body 2.</p> |
