The present invention relates to a process for the production of perfluorinated polymer membranes containing acidic ion exchanger groups, in which the membranes are first produced by a method known per se and then exposed to a corona discharge. The invention furthermore relates to the use of these membranes for the electrolysis of alkali metal chloride, hydrochloric acid or water.
