The invention relates to a method of producing a composite board (1) in which a core serving as bearer (2) is glued to at least one top panel (6) in order to form the surface and is provided with at least one rounded-off edge (3) and at least one groove (8). According to the invention, the top panel (3) is first glued to the bearer (2) and the entire rounded-off front edge (3). The front edge (3), while retaining its fixed connection with the top panel (6), is then separated from the bearer (2) and bent away from the latter. The separation of the front edge (3) is effected by a cut (7) made in the underside of the bearer (2). A groove (8) is formed between the working surface (5) and the rounded-off portion (4) of the front edge (3) by bending the front edge (3) away. The free space formed between the bearer (2) and the front edge is permanently filled with a quick-hardening material. <IMAGE>
