Method of constructing straight or curved pipe or tunnel routes of circular cross-section by the jacking method by means of pipe pieces (1) which are trapezoidal in longitudinal section and have a greatest and smallest pipe-wall length (5 and 6 resp.). In this method, during the construction of straight routes, the respectively following pipe piece is turned by 180 DEG about the longitudinal axis so that the largest and the smallest pipe-wall lengths (5 and 6 resp.) of the pipe piece (1) alternately adjoin one another in the longitudinal direction of the pipe pieces. In a curved route, the pipe pieces (1) are turned about the longitudinal axis in such a way that the largest and the smallest pipe-wall lengths (5 and 6 resp.) adjoin one another.
