PURPOSE:To carry out the sensing of yarn breakage with a high accuracy, by irradiating glass fibers taken out of a bushing with light beams, and converting the reflected or transmitted light into electric signals. CONSTITUTION:Glass fibers taken out of the bottom 2 of a bushing in the normal operation are applied with a binder by an applicator 4 and then irradiated with light beams 7. The reflected or transmitted light is received by a receptor apparatus 8 and converted into electric signals, which are then sent to a computer 9. The irradiation range of the beams 7 is changed by changing the irradiating angle of the beams 7 to memorize the magnitude of the electric signals in a memory apparatus 10 as a function of the position of the beams 7 and give the standard value. The standard value is obtained by averaging the values about five or more times. The irradiation of the beams 7 is carried out at a given interval in the yarn collecting operation, and the taken out function in the monitoring step is compared with the memorized function in a comparing apparatus 11. The resultant difference is displayed in a monitoring TV 12. If the difference exceeds the standard value, an alarm is sent by an alarm apparatus 13. |
