By means of a reversible flap system, the overpressure and underpressure chambers are, within a circulating-air system, distributed above and below the material web in such a manner that on the one hand overpressure above the material web and underpressure below the material web lie next to one another and on the other hand the overpressure and underpressure chambers lie next to one another alternately above and below the material web. Thus two treatment possibilities are afforded in one system. On the one hand, the circulating air can be sucked or blown from the top to the bottom through the material web and on the other hand the material web can be blown on on the top and on the bottom and in each case the circulating air can be sucked back again between the blowing boxes.
