Tool shank

The tool shank of a drill or setting tool is provided with a thread (9) which is conically ground from the free shank end over about one-third of its length, but the thread turns are not ground down to the minor diameter. The cylindrical shank section (7) carries a hexagon nut (10) which can be turned by turning against the underside of a taper socket (3) accommodating the conical shank section (8). By pressing of the hexagon nut (20), the conical shank section (8) of the tool shank (1) can be easily and gently drawn off and released axially from the internal taper. <IMAGE>
