In conveyor belt systems, fire risks can occur due to interferences of various kinds, operating failures and impermissible heat development, the fire risks often being detected too late due to the lack of an appropriate monitoring and control system. By means of the device, conveying systems, such as in this case conveyor belts (1), and the running rollers (2) can be monitored by thermocouples and infrared scanning devices (3, 4, 5). The recording of measurements of mechanical parameters, such as rotary speed, torque, bearing load, temperature, belt sagging, belt tension, belt damage and belt obliqueness, takes place by the previously mentioned alarm devices (3, 4, 5). The measurements are transferred by leads and/or cordlessly by induction, ultrasound or infrared radiation. The evaluation takes place in a central processing unit (8) and can be displayed on a monitor (6) and/or as written documentation via a printer (7). Furthermore, the central unit (8) also provides data on the performance output, performance capacity, degree of efficiency and prospective service life of the construction elements monitored. The automatic localisation of the alarm device is also connected to an alarm signal. The system allows automatic switch off of the system to be monitored in the case of an alarm. <IMAGE>
