An explosionproof and flameproof housing is described for an electrical circuit in communications and warning systems based on wire links, the circuit having one or more boards, switches, connecting terminals or similar electrical or electronic components which are electrically connected to one another and are mounted on a chassis. In order to create a plastic housing which can be used for a voice station (extension) of a wire-based communications and warning installation and which can be operated in regions where there is an explosion risk, it is provided that the chassis is formed from one or more pressure-resistant chambers which are composed of plastic, each chamber enclosing a part of the circuit and having in its base one or more explosionproof bushings for connecting pins which are connected inside the chamber to the enclosed circuit part.
