According to Fig. 2, an earth tank (15) for storing a heat-transfer fluid for a cooling and heating circuit is built into the earth (12) so deep that the earth tank (15) reaches at least partially into the earth layers (14) conducting groundwater. The connections for the heating and cooling circuit are designated by (16). To prevent the formation of heat layering in the virtually stationary groundwater (14), a sucking-off arrangement (17, 18) is provided, which sucks off the groundwater in a circumferential region of the earth tank (15) so that, in the region of the earth tank close to the circumference, a convection flow is created within the groundwater, which reliably prevents the formation of heat layering. The groundwater sucked off by the suction arrangement (17, 18) can be conducted to a point of use on the earth surface or be conducted via a line (20) passing under the earth tank (15) to a pressure-side mouth (21) where the groundwater supplied further promotes the formation of the convection movement. <IMAGE>
