The invention relates to a device for the folding of laundry articles, which possesses corresponding feed and discharge conveyors and which can carry out the folding by means of a folding blade, movable in a controlled manner, in interaction with folding rollers. Starting from the aim of the invention to achieve a brief acceleration and rapid movement of the folding blade from the initial position into the folding position, whilst at the same time ensuring a high folding accuracy, and to mount the stable folding blade flexibly, the object on which it is based is to cause an additional force assisting the movement of the folding blade to act on the folding blade, to make the folding edge of the folding blade movable relatively quickly and approximately in a straight line, and to arrange the folding blade in an articulated manner on at least one lever carrying the folding blade and actuable by working cylinders. This is achieved in that there is arranged rigidly on the folding blade at least one lever which lies on a support and can roll on the support and on the opposite end of which a prestressed spring is articulated.
