PURPOSE:To sense the presence or absence of running yarns without contact and certainty without the erroneous sensing due to fly wastes, etc., by using two optical sensing means for sensing the yarn position provided in a running unit for sensing the yarn breakage state in the respective spindles by moving along the respective spindles of a spinning frame. CONSTITUTION:A pair of optical sensing means 221 and 222 right and left at an interval (d1+d2) somewhat wider than that of a fibrous bundle on the feeding side of the respective spindles are provided in a running unit for sensing the yarn brekage state of the respective spindles while moving along the respective spindles of a spinning frame, and at least one optical sensing means 223, 224 and 225 is provided at a position on the inside of the interval (d1+d2) and along the running path of the fibrous bundle (yarn). If one of the pair of the sensing means 221 and 222 senses the presence of the fibrous bundle, gate signals for a given period are sent to sense the presence (breakage state) of the fibrous bundle (yarn) by the optical sensing means 223, 224 and 225 during the period of the gate signals. |
