PURPOSE:To obtain high in potential retentivity even when used in high humidity, by treating electrophotographic CdS powder after burning it in an acidic soln. not above a specified concn. for a proper time length, and removing ions remaining in the particles sufficiently. CONSTITUTION:After CdS powder is burned, the powder not subjected to ion exchange treatment is dispersed into an ag. <=1 normal soln. of H2SO4, HCl, or HNO3 and agitated for about one night (depending upon acid concn.), then washed with water to give a CdS powder sufficiently freed of residual ions not only remaining on the surfaces but in the inside. Use of this CdS powder permits the obtained photoconductive layer to have good potential retentivity even in high humidity, small drop of potential retentivity even after repeated charging and exposure, and enhanced durability. |
