The title comds. I (R1 and R2 = independently Me or Et; X = H, Me, Cl, Br, F, or I; Y = Cl, Br, F, CN, methoxy or 4,5-methylenedioxy ; n = 0.1 or 2; R5 = H or Cl; R6 = H, Z = Cl or Br) were prepd. and exhibited herbicidal activity. Thus, 6.3 g 3-chloroN-(2-chlorophenyl) methyl-N-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-propaneamide was reacted with 45 ml methanol and 1.5 g potassium hydroxide and extracted with 250 ml methylene chloride to give 5.2 g 2-(2chlorophenyl) methyl-4,4- dimethyl-3-isoxazolidinone. |
