The invention relates to a compressed-air pile driver with a pile hammer which divides the housing interior into a top and a bottom compression space which can be alternately connected to a compressed-air source via air-supply connections and a control valve and each have an exhaust-air opening opened alternately by the pile hammer. In order to reduce the air consumption of the compressed-air pile driver and obtain an increased impact capacity, a pressure space is divided off in the top compression space by means of a wall parallel to the end face of the pile hammer. The air-supply connection of the top compression space leads into this pressure space. An air-intake opening arranged in the wall for the top compression space is closed by the pile hammer in its top initial position, the pile hammer being held in place in its top initial position by a holding arrangement. The pile hammer is thrown downwards explosively only when a pressure overcoming the adhesion has built up in the air-intake opening, a high impact force being achieved over a short distance. |
