<p>An electrical connector structure for making electrical connection between a wire end and either another wire end or a ring terminal, or both, is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a connector (20) includes a plurality of contact assemblies (26), each including a plate member (62) fastened to a base member (22). At one end, each plate member (62) includes a loop member (28) with a screw (30) for retaining a wire end between the loop member (28) and a surface of the plate member (62). At the other end, each plate member (62) has an aperture (98) for receiving the threaded shaft portion (36) of a stud member (34). The stud member (34) has a square head portion (38) with four mutually perpendicular and randomly oriented ribs (40). A wire end (46) may be retained between the head portion (38) and a surface of the plate member (62), and a ring terminal (50) may be retained between a nut (42) and the opposite surface of the plate member (62), the nut (42) serving to draw the head portion (38) towards the plate member (62). The base member (22) includes means (54, 58, 72, 76) for slideably preventing the head portion (38) from rotating. A second embodiment utilizing a screw (96) a square nut (100) and an external tooth lockwasher (104) to provide similar benefits and solve the same problem is also disclosed.</p> |
