NEW MATERIAL:Ortho or para-phenoxy-(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl) benzene shown by the formula. USE:Useful as an insulting oil as a single substance or an isomer mixture or by blending it with another insulating oil, and also useful as an intermediate for organic syntheses. PROCESS:Diphenyl ether is reacted with 3,3,3-trifluoropropene in the presence of an acid catalyst such as HF, BF3, etc. After the reaction is over, the catalyst is removed, and the reaction mixture is rectified, to give distillates of ortho and para forms of the compound shown by the formula. |
