SEALING DEVICE FOR ROTARY TYPE TOTAL HEAT EXCHANGER

PURPOSE:To hold a sealing member accurately without abrading and imparing the rotating surface of the titled heat exchanger by a method wherein a cylindrical stationary section is formed around the outer periphery of a rotary member comprising basic sheets of paper used for forming a corrugated cardboard, leaving a small clearance from the latter and a number of flexible needle-like projections are provided on the inner surface of the stationary section. CONSTITUTION:In case a rotary member 1 which is formed by rolling up a thin flat sheet of paper 1a and a thin corrugated sheet of paper 1b for forming a cardboard is rotated in the direction of A so that a total heat exchange operation is performed between the open air introduced into the room in the direction of the arrow B and air discharged from the room, a partition plate 3 for separating the open air from the air discharged from the room is provided. Further, the cylindrical stationary section 2 is provided around the rotary member leaving a small clearance from the latter and a sealing member 5 comprising a number of needle-like projections which are flexible like feathers and which are longer than the width of the clearance 4 is provided at the center of the inner surface of the stationary section 2. As a consequence, the sealing member 5 is held in position accurately and the surface of the rotary member 1 is prevented from being damaged.
