PURPOSE:To smooth the bead shapes of weld zones and to eliminate stress concentration, etc. by deflecting an electron beam periodically to the rear of the weld zones in a short time and controlling the beam of that time. CONSTITUTION:During electron beam welding, an electron beam 3 is deflected periodically in a short time to the rear of welding like an electron beam 3a by a deflection coil 5. At this time, the energy of the beam 3a is decreased and the diameter of the beam 3a is slightly increased by using a converging coil 4. Only the part near the surface of weld zones is remelted by the beam 3a which is deflected to the rear side in the above-mentioned manner. The position for deflecting the beam to the rear side is determined near the part just behind the part where a molten pool solidifies. |
