PURPOSE:To make it possible to confirm the tip location of a grinding wheel by mixing small pieces of reflecting substance into a bonding agent and by increasing the amount of reflected rays and by allowing momentarily shining points to flicker on the surface image of a workpiece on the screen. CONSTITUTION:A grinding wheel comprises a power source box 3, a reflex mirror 5, and a condenser lens 7, and a light source lamp 9 is installed between the mirror 5 and the lens 7. The parallel rays from the light source box 3 is refracted on a half mirror 11 by an angle of 90 deg. in the downward direction. The parallel rays are then turned into a cylindrically shaped flux of light at the center of the working tip 13 of the grinding wheel thereby irradiating the portions to be machined. The grinding wheel uses artificial aluminum oxide and silicon carbide as a grinding agent in most cases. On the other hand, clay, water glass, and synthetic resin are used as a bonding agent. 2 to 30% of small pieces of reflecting substance are mixed with the bonding agent. This composition makes it possible to confirm the tip location of the grinding wheel. |
