PURPOSE:To make an acid-electrolyte-type fuel cell small, and realize an effective power generation by providing a means of supplying a proper amount of mixture liquid consisting of water and alcohol to the fuel electrode of the fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:In an acid-electrolyte-type fuel cell in which alcohol is used as a fuel, a fuel tank 16 is charged with a mixture liquid which is prepared by mixing water and alcohol such as methanol in a molar ratio of 1 to 1. A given amount of the mixture solution contained in the tank 16 is supplied to a fuel electrode 2 at given time intervals by means of a valve 17. In addition, the valve 17 is switched so as to make water and alcohol necessary for the reaction to be supplied. As a result, the utilization rate of the fuel increases, and the fuel cell can be operated with a high battery characteristic. Besides, when the fuel tank 16 is made of a cassette type, the fuel cell can be widely used as a portable fuel cell. |
