<p>Process comprises prodn of combustion Gp.II metal in a stream of O2 and Cl2 (exclusing N2 from the combustion zone). Prod contains intermediary salts which decompose after cooling forming condensation nuclei. Strongly hygroscopic chloride binds condensed water forming further surfaces for condensation. Heat of reaction also helps by its effect on the dew point. The combustion is carried out in a box open on one side, the top is pyramidal and the centre is open for venting of the reaction prods. In the centre of the box the metal is preheated first with a blow pipe before the O2 and Cl2 inlets are open.</p> |
