<p>The transmission is for a lightweight motorised bicycle and consists of flexible shafts connecting the engine to the front and/or rear wheel via right angled drives and couplings. The shaft consists of a steel or synthetic wire, coiled or twisted. A typical application uses an engine (1) connected to a right angled drive box (2) and a flexible shaft (3) with a coupling (9) at either end. The far shaft end drives another right angle drive box (4), which, in turn, drives the wheel (5). A similar arrangement is used to drive the other wheel (8).</p> |
