摘要 PURPOSE:To make the thermal conditions of a plurality of cylinders uniform and to improve the engine cooling performance, by forming a cooling-water passage for each of the plurality of cylinders of a water-cooled engine independently from each other, and providing each of the cylinders with an individual inlet port for cooling water. CONSTITUTION:Cylinder liners 4a-4c of a cylinder block 1 are fitted tightly in the inner surfaces of cylinders 2a-2c at its upper and lower end portions, while confined hollow spaces are formed between the outer surfaces of the liners 4a- 4c and the inner surfaces of the cylinders 2a-2c at their intermediate sections along the length thereof, so that the hollow spaces serve as cooling-water passages 6a-6c. Further, inlet ports 7a-7c of cooling water are formed in the lower wall surfaces of the passages 6a-6c, respectively, in the manner that they are located with some displacement to one side of the cylinders 2a-2c. Since, by employing such an arrangement, cooling water introduced from the inlet ports 7a-7c is made to flow in one direction through the respective passages 6a-6c, it is enabled to obtain smooth flow of cooling water.
