<p>The diaphragm valve is fitted into a pipeline such as a fuel line on a vehicle. The diaphragm is spring loaded (23) to open and is closed by pressure on a jumper (9) operated by a cylinder (6). The cylinder has a rotatable barrel (5) retained by a key pin (28). The barrel carries an eccentric pin (22) at its lower extremity. A laterally sliding, spring-loaded, dog (18) is housed in a slot (19) in the lower body of the cylinder. When the cylinder is pressed down to close the valve, the dog springs out laterally and locks the valve in the closed position. A key (26) is used to rotate the barrel whose eccentric (22) retracts the dog (18) and releases the valve.</p> |
