A method of heat sealing together layers of thermoplastics material (26, 28), wherein a heating element, preferably a thin, flat, heating element of low thermal mass, is moved forward and back between two layers of strap (26, 28) substantially in the longitudinal direction of the strap. Preferably, the heating element is supplied with heating current only during the reverse, stroke, during which the two strap layers (26, 28) are pressed together with a fusing pressure. |
