PURPOSE:To improve the tracking performance of a light spot on a track, by loading a support fixed with a pickup main body on a support arm provided on a base freely rotatably and independently driving the support and the support arm. CONSTITUTION:In driving a support 61 and a support arm 51 through the application of a tracking error signal Te to coils 55 and 70, a pickup 21 is driven in the direction cancelling a tracking error via the support arm 51. The pickup arm case 22 is driven in the direction canceling the tracking error via the support 61. Since the support 61 is made light in weight, a quick response can be performed according to the signal Te. As a result, since the weight of the support arm 51 can be increased, the support arm 51 is turned in response to the average value of the signal Te and the frequency band for the frequency response as a whole carrier can be extended. |
