PURPOSE:To extract a document and a picture efficiently, by dividing the dither picture of one line into blocks consisting of a predetermined number of bits and forecasting and forming a bit pattern of a noticed block on a basis of adjacent blocks. CONSTITUTION:The dither picture signal of one line is stored in a buffer memory 1, and the stored dither picture signal is divided into blocks in 4-bit unit and is read out to registers 2a and 2b. In each stage of block division, bit patterns A of adjacent blocks in registers 2a and 2b and a bit pattern B of a noticed block are given to a code converter 3, and a conversion bit pattern corresponding to these patterns A and B is outputted as the conversion bit pattern of the noticed block from the code converter 3. This output signal is stored temporarily in a one-line buffer 4 and is encoded by an MH run-length encoder 5 and is transmitted as a transmission signal Sb. |
