DESULFURIZING METHOD FOR GAS OBTAINED BY COAL GASIFICATION

PURPOSE:To economically recover a sulfur component as high-quality sulfur as a simple substance by reducing SO2 contained in hot waste gas after regenerating a desulfurizing agent for gas obtd. by coal gasification with the gas obtd. by the gasification. CONSTITUTION:A reduction tower 21 is packed with a catalyst, and part 17' of desulfurized gasified gas 17 from a high temp. dry desulfurization tower 11 is mixed with waste gas 16 from a tower 12 for regenerating a desulfurizing agent and fed to the tower 21. The reaction temp. in the tower 21 is set to about 300- 600 deg.C. Under the reaction conditions SO2 in the waste gas 16 is reduced to sulfur S2 as a simple substance by main reaction with H2 and CO in the desulfurized gasified gas 17'. The resulting gas 25 contg. S2 from the tower 21 is cooled with a cooler 23 to recover the S224. The remaining gaseous mixture of H2, S, COS, etc. produced by side reaction is fed to an apparatus 31 for treating tail gas and treated to recover sulfur 32 as a simple substance, and it is exhausted as waste gas 33.
