PURPOSE:To easily heat an optical fiber connection part and a reinforcing member into one body, by using as the reinforcing member a pipe made of a thermally melting adhesive material having an electric resistance heating body attached longitudinally, and feeding electricity to said heating body. CONSTITUTION:In a fibrous electric resistance heating body 1, an optical fiber is run through a pipe 2 made of a thermally melting adhesive material and an optical fiber bare wire 5 obtained by removing a plastic coating layer 6 is melted and connected. While a reinforcing member run through an optical fiber connection part is set in a mold, the electric resistance heating body 1 is powered up from terminals 18A and 18B through a terminal 4 to heat up, and thus thermally melting adhesive materials 2 and 3 are fused to form a plastic coating layer at the connection part of the optical fiber core. |
