The label-feed device has a separately driven label-pushing member which pushes the label (1) in front of the sewing needle (6) oppositely to the sewing direction. A holding element (8) controlled synchronously with the label-pushing member retains the pushed label (1). The holding element (8) is designed as a pivotable double lever, especially as an angle lever (5). It is driven by a cylinder/piston unit (7). The angle lever (5) is pivotally mounted at its vertex (12), one leg, the holding element (8), serving for clamping the label and the other leg serving for the operative connection to the drive (7). A deflector (14) serves for delivering the label (1) over and beyond the feeder (13). <IMAGE>
