The novel m-isocyanatobenzyl isocyanate is prepared by reacting m-aminobenzylamine with phosgene. The novel compound is used for the preparation of polyurethanes by reacting it with a polyhydric alcohol whose molecular weight is at least 92. The polyurethanes obtained can be used for coatings on surfaces, for the preparation of paints and lacquers, and for the preparation of corresponding foams.
