Suitably, the ground fibres have a denier range of 1 to 50 dtex and are added in a quantity of 125 to 1250 g. per sq metre of filter surface. Active carbon and/or an ion exchanger may be added to the ground fibres when forming the precoat. The filter apparatus may comprise a plurality of horizontal or vertically upstanding or depending filter candles formed of stainless steel, fibres or other sintered materials. The examples relate to the treatment of condensates from heat-generating stations, saccharine juices and electrolyte solutions. |
