Prodn of rubber or rubber-like plastic tubes with braided textile fibre reinforcing inserts by the known technique or bringing these onto a tubular preform constituting the core, and applying an external tubular layer onto them, is improved by braiding the insert fibres to form a stocking-like construction surrounding and radially spaced from the pre-form, the braided construction then being brought into contact with the outer surface of the pre-form by the action of an axial drawing tension bringing about a reduction of its dia.
