Synergistic herbicidal activity is displayed by a composition comprising the following two components: (a) a thiolcarbamate of the formula <CHEM> in which R<1> is selected from ethyl, benzyl, and p-chlorobenzyl, and when R<1> is ethyl, R<2> and R<3> are independently selected from C1-C6 alkyl and C5-C7 cycloalkyl, and when R<1> is benzyl or p-chlorobenzyl, R<2> and R<3> are independently selected from C1-C6 alkyl, or conjointly form C5-C7 alkylene; and (b) a phenylcarbarmoyloxycarbanilate of the formula <CHEM> in which R<4> is C1-C4 alkyl; and R<5> is selected from hydrogen and C1-C4 alkyl. The compositions may contain an inert carrier or diluent and optionally other active ingredients. They are applied post-emergence. |
