PURPOSE:To prevent overloading of a motor for a paper feeder by disengaging an input gear from an output gear by a torque limiter when paper is jammed. CONSTITUTION:When paper is jammed in a feed roller R section, excessive load is exerted upon an output gear 7 meshed with a gear 8. When the load torque thereof exceeds a prescribed value, a rolling ball 10 is disengaged from a detaining hole 11, and the output gear 7 of a torque limiter 5 is pressed by the ball 10 and is slided in the direction of a revolving shaft by overcoming the elastic force of an elastic plate 14. Thus the torque of an input gear 6 is no longer transmitted to the gear 7 and the revolutions of the gear 7, the gear 8 and the roller R are stopped. When the jammed paper is removed, the gear 7 energized by the plate 14 is slided and reset to the original state by the engagement of the hole 11 and the ball 10 and torque is transmitted from the gear 6 to the gear 7, whereby the roller R is started. Thus, even when the paper is clogged, no overload current is generated in the driving motor M and the damaging of paper, above all, originals, is prevented. |
