PURPOSE:To perform the melt connection of an optical fiber extremely with ease, by conducting electrically to a reinforcing member of longitudinal split structure, made of thermoplastic materials having electric resitance, while the optical fiber connection part is equipped. CONSTITUTION:A fiber connection part 3 is placed in the groove 2B in a half- split thermoplastic member 1 having electric resistance, and then covered with the other thermoplastic member 1A. Then, a current I is fed from a power source 5 to the members 1A and 1B. The generated heat melts the members 1A and 1B and once the gap between the members and fiber connection part 3 is filled completely, the electric conduction is stopped; and the members 1A and 1B are cooled to make the members 1A and 1B and fiber connection part 3 into one body, thus performing the reinforcement. |
