PURPOSE:To make a quick hardening possible to improve the tensile strength of each chain link, by using a work steel bar, which is not hardened, to link hardened single chain links and feeding every two chain links intermittently to subject the connecting chain link to the hardening treatment. CONSTITUTION:A work steel bar 30 is subjected to the hardening treatment in a single chain link production line X to form a single chain link 33. In a chain link linking line Y, the work steel bar 30 is cut, chamfered and heated and is engaged with a preceding continuous chain 35 and the new single chain link 33, which is supplied from the single chain link production line X, by a bending device 14 to form new chain links 34. The continuous chain 35 is transferred intermittently at the feed pitch of the double length of each chain link in every one linking work and is entered to a hardening device 18 through an auxiliary heating device 16 and a link adjusting device 17. In this case, every two chain links are immersed in a hardening liquid W simultaneously, and the single chain link 33 is across the surface of the liquid W, but no hindrance occurs because the single chain link 33 is hardened already. |
