PURPOSE:To manufacture a tubular mold of a large size having a good electromagnetic agitating effect by working grooves for cooling water in a material of high mechanical strength, joining flat plates having good heat conductivity on the worked surface thereof to form flat plates clad with two layers and bending the same to a tube-like shape. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 2 for cooling water are beforehand worked on a mold body1 consisting of a material of high mechanical strength such as carbon steel or special steel, and a flat plate 3 of 1-50mm. thickness of Cu or Cu alloy of good heat conductivity is joined by diffusion welding or the like on the worked surface thereof, whereby flat plates 4 clad with 2 layers are manufactured. After the two layered plates 4 are bent with a press to make constituting members (a)-(e), the members are conbined as shown by A-E. The terminals 8 which are the combined parts are closed by diffusion holding or bolting to form the members into a tube-like shape. Thus the manufacture of the large-sized tubular mold having >=250 square mm. inside wall size is made possible. |
